PUIG DE RANDA
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Cura located at Puig de Randa, at 543 meters, the highest elevation in the center of the island and considered one of Mallorca's sacred mountains. Legends, traces of worship and hypotheses about its habitability immerse us in the mystery of history. Near the summit there are remains of a defense castle from the Islamic period and since the conquest of James I (1229) there are indications that the mountain - which still preserves caves, hermitages and sanctuaries - was an ideal space to experience a ascetic and contemplative life. The first documentary reference that confirms this hypothesis appears in La Vida Coetània – the autobiography of Ramon Llull, written in 1311.
